Our church school - Saint Gabriel’s College - is a designated Media Arts and Music College and is part of the government’s Specialist Schools Programme. Through our designation we are able to provide facilities and support that enable our students and the community to access high quality training and advice.
Our specialist Media Arts and Music subjects make the College a vibrant place to work and study. They have a high profile within the school and in the community and have contributed to the school’s reputation for outstanding arts provision. Through our specialisms we offer superb opportunities and excellent teaching to develop the skills, attributes and confidence of our students, not just in these areas but across the curriculum. Specialist status in these areas also helps us continue to raise standards of achievement and aids the development of innovative approaches to the teaching and learning of all subjects.
Being a specialist college brings additional funds which are used to benefit our students and the community, including specialist equipment such as a wide array of musical instruments, a media suite as well as specialist staff to support teaching and learning and a range of enrichment activities across every key stage.
To support the work of the arts there are many extracurricular opportunities in the form of choirs, orchestras, dance and drama clubs, various college productions and the creative writing club to name a few.
We are very proud of the range of partners with whom we work and strive to ensure that every child benefits from our status as a specialist college.
