Racial justice is central to our discipleship and ministry.
We are committed to a world without racism and know that we must work to make it a reality. The murder of George Floyd and widespread calls for racial justice that followed reveal an urgent need to address pre-existing forms of racism. Our parish is dedicated to challenging racism in our own life as a church, as well as contributing to efforts within the local community and across the country.
This ethos informs our ministry, preaching, involvement in social justice and is founded in the wonderful diversity of our community.
Black Lives Matter @ SJDK podcast series
In Advent 2020 we curated a series of interviews with members of our congregation on their experiences of race in Britain, the church and our local community. Voices included a former mayor of Lambeth, members of the Windrush generation, the Black Lives Matter generation and our church leaders.
